This tool does NOT portscan hosts itself. It accepts portscans from nmap in XML form, and insert them in a database in a useful way. If you are are script kiddie just trying to scan something, please look elsewhere.

Portscan is a tool that creates an archive of submitted portscans, and allows the database to be searched in interesting ways. Uses for this may include:

  • Having an audit trail of configuration changes,
  • Being able to immidiately find boxes running a particular service on your network,
  • Being able to immidiately find boxes running a particular os on your network.

Portscan accepts entries into it's database in Nmap's XML output format. This may be done using the argument -oX. Portscan also accepts OS Identification info, from the -O argument. Thus, a nice nmap command for import into portscan might be:

nmap -O -oX - target.example.com

To make a submission to the portscan database, click on Submit on the left. To search the database, click on Scan.
